Emergency water starts with stored safe water

Alternative production systems are interesting. For an outage, the foundation is simpler: keep an accessible supply of safe water and know how to protect it.

1 gallonper person, per day, for at least 3 days

CDC’s current minimum emergency-storage guidance; try to store a two-week supply when possible.

Build the plan in layers

01

Store

Use commercially bottled water or appropriate food-grade containers.

02

Protect

Keep stored water cool, away from sunlight and toxic substances.

03

Treat

Know what to do if your available source is not known to be safe.

04

Diversify

Only after the basics, evaluate backup sources appropriate to your location.

Water-from-air as a supplement

An atmospheric system can be an additional source in suitable conditions, but it should not replace stored emergency water solely on the basis of a marketing output claim.
